That's a lovely site; everyone in our family enjoyed it.
It occurs to me that its appeal is largely, to use a surprising term, steampunk. A ball being launched from a tube to loft through the air, sound a tone, and rebound along a precisely-plotted arc into a receptacle is a bit, and the video deploys a great many of them, rapidly and in complex patterns, to produce meaning. The aesthetic effect is identical to that of contemplating a large steam-driven computer, seemingly clunky but precision engineered to an insane degree, carry out a highly complex operation. It could be done more easily a very different way, but one still wants to applaud the performance.
I'm the author of a bunch of books, including five Regency romances, a Marvel Comics superhero novel, The Stone War, a dark urban fantasy in which I blew up my home town, and Point of Honour and Petty Treason, the first two books in the adventures of Sarah Tolerance, Fallen Woman and Private Eye. I've also published a double-handful of SF and fantasy stories.

Heavens -- they now have a whole series of those. On DVDs.
From the samples, that one still seems to be the best, tho'.

Musical Rube Goldbergism is how we summed it up around here.
